Something about being forcefully changed against your will. Mentally, physically, and emotionally. Taking away that parts of you that make you yourself is horrifying. If you think either side is good, I think you're misunderstanding them.

Being forced to be part of somebody you fought, somebody who hurt your friends, and forced to help them possibly even later hurt them again?

That's sick. No matter how "cute" the two of them together are.

It’s shown that both sides force sacrifices and societal ideologies on their people. And both sides are at war, thinking the other evil. Honestly this is like Conservative Control Hell vs Ultra Liberal Hell.

We have clearly seen the bandit in the past few pages still retained his sense of self and didnt give a flying flip about Waffle or anyone else. Hell *Hanz* fucking fought Waffle the moment he was transformed and still continues to fight her! If nothing else, the mind remains untouched.

These could be outlier situations, the bandit is crazy and Hanz had strong bonds with his friends. Maybe this makes the difference or maybe they're not changed fundamentally afterwards. Who knows?
