It was a day like any other, with the soft sounds of the forest washing over the treetops that I, Morfeel, the military macaw, call home. The early morning sun was slowly peeking out from behind the horizon. Nothing really seemed out of the ordinary. I lazily crawled out of my living space, nestled up in the swaying pines, and relaxed as I felt the brisk morning air washing over my face. The cool air rustled through my soft feathers and across my lean figure. I felt that today was going to be a good day, but it didn’t take long for that to change. A sharp pain raced across my back. Startled, I quickly took to the air, racing away from the threat. Strangely, as the seconds passed, I became more and more exhausted, and before long I fell to the ground, devoid of any energy as I slowly passed out. The last thing I see is some humanoid figure approaching, with a strange looking device in one hand, and a cage in the other…

I don’t know for how long I was out, but it certainly was no short amount of time, as I found myself in an entirely new environment. It was quite dark, but there was just enough light for me to make out my surroundings. I appeared to be inside of a cylindrical metal cage, the size of which provided me with almost no room to move around. Besides me the only things in the cage were a writhed-up branch for me to stand on, and an annoying metal contraption that hung from the ceiling and rang noisily upon touch. After some time had passed, my world was suddenly flooded with light as a portal to the outside was opened before me. It became apparent that I was situated in the back of one of those vehicles that I see people use to move around quickly. The stranger I had seen back home was standing there, along with some other woman. She was adorned with what could only be lavish clothing and wore an excessive number of shiny objects. They talked for a while, I didn’t know what they were saying, but by the end of their conversation they both looked quite happy. The cage, and me with it, were then picked up by the strange figure and handed off to the woman. She held to cage very awkwardly but looked at me with a strangely pleased face. She walked off to her own vehicle, and soon we ended up making our way back to her home.

The woman’s nest was very large, and very square. Quickly after arriving, the woman ended up taking me to a corner, and hung up the cage from the ceiling. She stepped back and pace around, looking at me from all different angles. After needlessly shifting my cage back and forth, she finally found a place she was happy with, and then just walked off. I was just left there, alone, to hang in a cage I couldn’t move in. I feared that this was the end, that I would just end up starving here with nothing to do. Luckily for me, this was not the case. After many hours of silence, the woman came back, and briskly walked over before hanging a large rodent in front of a hole in the cage. The woman may have no idea how to handle birds like me, but there is no way I could turn down a live meal. I swiftly snatched up the thing in my mouth, and as soon as I did, the woman seemed content to walk away. I slowly licked over the writhing mass of fur and flesh that hung from my beak, savoring its flavors. I swallowed, one gulp at a time, and sent the rodent down into my throat. A good deal of squirming and gulping later, the poor rodent sank into my belly, ready to be processed into the nutrients I needed. I shifted from side to side and let out a light belch, it wasn’t an exceptionally filling meal, but it was good enough.

As time went on, the woman continued to appear with rodents for me to eat. The strange thing was that she did this every few hours. Of course, there was no way I would turn down food, but it was a lot of food. Days passed, and soon a couple of rodents had become many. All of these furry meals began to impact my figure. My lean body gives way to some soft pudge, my belly jiggling slightly when I shake about. But it didn’t stop there. Days became weeks, at this point I began to become concerned. I had consumed so many rodents at this point that I was outright fat. My stomach pressed against the side of the cage, and my soft form spilled out beyond its bars. The bones of previous meals simply piled up and spilled out, as the woman never cleaned the cage. I still kept eating though, there was no way to convince me to stop. But eventually I might have had to, simply because I could not physically fit in the cage anymore. It never got to that point however, as I eventually made my way out of that situation. A story for another time maybe...
