This is a piece of fan-fic for a story called Top Level Player. It was tucked away on a laptop I hadn't used in months. A slightly different version exists on FA as well.
The setting is about a world where when you die, you get uploaded into an MMORPG as your afterlife. In this story, that doesn't go according to plan.

Makes me wonder what happened to her real body if this is a snapshot of when she took the scan. Probs just living out its natural life huh?

I'm certainly thinking she's still walking around out there. I'd briefly considered making her "player" turn out to be the version of her that got loaded into the After-Image the correct way, so she is in effect her own toy. I guess you could imagine that still happened. She could have just made her After-Image avatar Barnum Teckmagik

I wonder what her owner will think if she ever owns up to being a person (or used to be a person), who he/she actually reprogrammed, at least partially, to be his/her PDA? Given her adoration I could even see him/her actually feeling bad, offering to try to undo it, and Polkadot begging him not to. :)
