How long had he resided here in the belly of the beast? Months? Years? Decades? He and his captor had both lost track of time by now, but he found no reason to worry about that anymore. In here, he could find contentment; he was safe, comfortable, and wanted. His loving captor fulfilled his every need, leaving him without a worry in the world.

Throughout this space, over the soothing rush of blood and the throbbing of the big cat’s heartbeat, Zora’s voice came through, muffled yet pervasive: “I love you, Pet.”

The human kissed the tender wall and whispered a soft reply. “I love you too.” Zora didn’t need to hear it, though, because she already knew.

Predator and prey, mutually infatuated and inseparable, belonged to one another now. He was her pet, just as much as she was his home, and neither could be happier with that fact.
