You do remember liking Umbreon as a human. The short, dark sleek fur. The glowing yellow rings. The red eyes. They looked like something you would want on your side. "I guess I would be an Umbreon" you tell your partner. "Well, you are kind of quiet so I think being an Umbreon would suit you. It's kind of difficult to become one though.
