Predatory Forest - Page 16 - A magical necklace from a recent meal. - By corecat - Overview
Your eyes drift to a recent acquisition, a necklace with a luminous green gem on it, clearly something magical.

While you have yet to wear it, you do have an idea of what it might do. You think back to the meal you obtained it from...

She was humanoid, with a slight build- an elf, perhaps. She was traveling with a group of three other people. You smelled the group in the air from a distance, and you were able to get close enough to see them from a distance. The other members of the group were armed, and while you thought you might be able to take them on, the risk was too great for your liking. So you decided to wait patiently.

You didn’t have to wait long. The group stopped to set up camp, and began to build a fire. The young woman offered to go collect firewood. Silently, you followed her into the depths of the woods.

She didn’t look especially formidable- she was small, and carried no weapons that you could see. The only notable thing on her was the necklace, which featured a green gem that glowed brightly enough for you to see by.

Despite her size, you could see a bit of muscle definition on her arms, and you could catch her scent, drifting through the air. She would make a fine meal.

As she bent down to pick up a piece of wood, you emerged in front of her, still deathly quiet. You made sure to arrange the length of your body so that it nearly cooled around her. You could have simply reached down and swallowed her right there, but you always did like to make an impression.

She seemed to suspect something was wrong before she even saw you. She froze up, before looking toward you, tentatively, slowly. She gasped as she saw your black, scaled form, and when she finally took in your face, she stumbled backward, tripping over your long tail, and falling to the ground.

You leaned toward her, your torso just above hers, even as she tried to scramble backwards, away from you.

“Good evening,” you greeted her pleasantly. “You have been chosen to serve as my dinner tonight. You should be honored.”

Rather than panicking, as you had anticipated, the prey bowed her head and gripped the crystal of the necklace in her fist. Instead of being covered, the green light only intensified, and a shudder passed through her body.

Now you understood while she carried no weapons. Her size increased rapidly. Fur sprouted underneath her clothing, and her hands erupted into paws with three-inch-long claws.

Surprised, you slammed down onto her chest with your hands, and you were able to feel her clothes tear as her ribcage pressed outward, now covered in thick, shaggy fur.

She was stronger than you had prepared for, and she shoved you back with all four legs. Before you could adjust your grip, she twisted away from you, and braced herself as her face elongated, and lips closed around sharp fangs.

Soon she was fully transformed. She looked quite a bit like a grizzly bear, though her fur was a whitish grey, and her clothes hung in tatters around her body. The necklace seemed to be gone, but the green glow of the crystal now seemed to emanate from her eyes.

You may not have expected this power, but you weren’t going to give up without a fight. You lunged toward her, and she kept up and snapped her teeth at you, lightly grazing your breast. The winner of this fight would be whoever was the better hunter.

You swung your tail up, looping it around the torso of the woman-turned-bear, and twisted your body to coil around her neck. She reared up on her hind legs, and gripped your body with her forepaws. Her long claws sunk into your scales, drawing small rivulets of azure blood. But you don’t give up easily. You wound your body around her once more, and pressed down with your coils until her front limbs were forced against her body. You squeezed hard enough to feel her bones creak under the force. She fell back to the ground, squirming helplessly against you.

Now that you had her secured, you just needed to decide what to do with her.
