-Checkpoints are marked with flag icons:
As long as you have at least one Rewind Shroom left, you will rewind to the most recent checkpoint, (or the beginning of the world stage if you have not reached a checkpoint yet) after a brush with death. Use your foreknowledge of events your advantage to avoid making the same mistake twice.
-Ranks are given at the end of each world stage and are based on how many secrets were discovered, among other things. It might be wise to replay a level if you receive a low rank in order to find more goodies in it a second time around.
-Each princess has her own viewpoints on various circumstances you may find yourself in. Listen to all of them, myself included, then use their opinions to inform your own decision about what to do.
