You anxiously sit in your pokeball as you listen in to the muffled chatter of trainers and the professor. It goes on for so long, too. Nobody likes grass-types, apparently. A sharp tap on the outside of the pokeball snaps your attention back to your current situation. Is this it? The pokeball's moving. This is it! "Thanks, Professor Birch!" your trainer would call as they leave the building. "Man, my own pokemon! I can't wait to beat the elite four!" You've heard that one a lot from other trainers as they exited the lab.
