The beginning of everying - Page 29 - Second Childhood - By Anonymous - Overview
When you had finally blacked out in despair you had been curled into a ball within the acidic pool. As you awake you find yourself in much of a similar fashion but the pain has vanished. As if to confirm your suspcicions a soft warm light stirs your eyes open at last, you once again can see the sun. With a yawn you rise back to your feet and stretch out your large wings... only moments later realizing you possess them. By instinct you give the wings a few test flaps and swing your tail about, it seems your brain rewired to fit them while you were sleeping. The precise features would have to wait until you could find something reflective but it was fairly obvious that you were now a four legged silver dragon. Nearby you stood a huge form, which you had once mistaken for a cliff, that dwarfed even your new dragon body. The being that had consumed your former human self was of the same species as you, albeit far older and larger. It appeared to be a hybrid of a dragon and a wolf, you had recently confirmed that you too possessed a coat of beautiful silver fur, and was obviously a hermaphrodite. It immediatly dawned on you to check if you also shared this trait but your head would not quite bend properly. There was a slight glimmer within you, probably the same instincts that had raised your wings, that told you this was indeed the case.

Gradually the dragon creature stirred from hir sleep and smacked the huge lips that had once hidden your body. For a moment deep fear radiated through your body, you could very well be eaten again, but her yellow eyes seemed to radiate nothing but fondness. As the dragon rose up a smile crossed hir face. "I didn't expect you to wake up first, but it looks like your adapting well." At the very least the dragon isin't going to eat you, however your head is still spinning in confusion. Fortunatly the dragon continues. "You see my species, our species I suppose, aren't capable of giving birth in the conventional sense. Instead we populate our children with the souls of people we've eaten. We can only do this once and you were the lucky one." The positives and negatives of this sink onto you at once. It appears that rather than mere food you have become the creature's child. The memories of your human self are still vivid in your mind yet the elder ones have gradually fogged since your awakening, you can't help but wonder if someday you will forget your old life entirally.
