Blink's Awakening (WIP) - Page 35 - Answer the Door - By Layab547 - Overview
The old wooden door drifts open the second you remove the dead-bolt, letting in the cool breeze of the forest. You can't help but shiver as flows over you, find all possible ways to chill your body beneath your dress. Still, you know you don't have a lot of reasons to complain about the weather. From what you've heard, some parts of Hyrule are enveloped by a never-ending storm.

That puts things in perspective.

"Good morning, Blink!" A cheery, male voice drags you out of your thoughts, and you blush realizing that Rito has been standing in front of you the whole time. The blue-feathered bird man is clad in his usual chain armor and wooden cap, his iron long-sword hanging at his side, and a basket of various vegetables, fruits, and other foods in his hands. His usual bright smile is on his beak, his blue eyes sparkling with his usual seemingly endless positive energy. He extends one of his wings, allowing you to step in for your usual side-hug, before the taller man gives you a quick peck on the cheek, returning your blush. "Sorry I'm late, I got sidetracked on the way here."

You quickly assure him it's fine, and invite him inside. As usual, he hold your door for you, and bolts it behind him.

"Hey Kalo, Lola!" He greets your siblings, as he hands over the groceries to you. You try to hide your frown when you realize that's it's noticeably a lighter weight than usual. Still, there are plenty of carrots.

"I tried to save you as much as I could..." He obviously noticed you grimace, his head bowing. "The harvests are growing more thin by the day."

You've known that for a while. Rito is usually a happy man, espically for a captain of the guard who battles with the monsters of Hyrule on a nightly basis. But he's become increasingly worried about the dwindling gardens, much like the rest of the village. Many say it's the work of the evil magic that's been slowly seeping into the very forest that's keeping everyone safe.

If that's true, you doubt there is anything that can be done about it...

Still, you have a lot to thank Rito for. Without him, you have no idea how'll you'll manage to feed both yourself and your siblings. So, your only responsive to his statement is to step over, and give him a kiss on the cheek. He blushes under his feathers, and you run a hand along his wing, and invite him to stay for breakfast. After all this time, he's learned he can't refuse this invitation.

"Um... well, Ive already finished my patrols for the morning, so if you're sure I won't be a bother..."

Same as always; you laugh and tell him to take a seat. Nodding, the bird joins your brother and sister at the table, taking your spot... he's learned not to touch Lola's dolls.

You watch him ruffle Lola's hair, the girl looking at him with slight annoyance, and feel a smile come to your face...
