After some deliberation, Amy chose to take the middle road path leading towards the center. She figured that if she could get to the literal core of the candy cane craziness, she could maybe get her bearings and find her way out easier. As it turned out, this involved even more walking than she expected. Amy knew that the path would not be short, but by the time she reached the next clearing, her soles were coated in a thin layer of mint shavings and it felt like she had walked for miles.
Luckily for Amy, all that walking turned out to be worth it! In the middle of the clearing, there sat a peculiar green mint.
Eat this and be protected, Pink One. Queen Flavo advised through brief mental contact with Amy, who became eager to comply. She popped the mint into her mouth, sucked on it for a few seconds, then became impatient and chewed it up, enjoying its sharp, fresh flavor. Upon swallowing the chomped up remains of the candy, Amy felt her throat and toes tingling, and when she looked down, she noticed that one of her toe rings had turned green, and that she felt somehow more secure than she had prior to eating the hard candy.
