Only after a few minutes of relaxing, Kara's cellphone rang. She voiced raised slightly as she was apparently annoyed with the person she was talking to. She started to explain to the person that she had classes the next day, as it would be Wednesday, the middle of the school week. Soon after that, Kara ended the call, and started lightly grumbling under her breath. Jason asked what was the matter. Kara answered, "It was my mom, she wants me to come home and visit for the night, to have dinner, and possibly sleep over and go to class from there in the morning. Jason asked her how far away was her home. Kara replied, "Only about ten miles away from campus. That is precisely why she wants me to visit. She said that since I go to school so close to home, there is no reason for my not having come back to visit since I started school."
Jason said, "Why not go, it's just one night? We don't have any work due tomorrow." Kara sighed, "I really don't want to, besides, Hanna won't be back for several hours. I can't leave you here." Jason smiled, "Then take me with you. You can introduce me to your family." Kara frowned but then laughed, "That'd probably be more dangerous than leaving you here by yourself. My mom has always thought it strange that signed up to be a protector, as she has expressed her view many times that we should be able to do whatever we want with puny people, that we'd be doing them a favor if we did something to end their lives. I haven't witnessed her do it to anybody, but she'd more likely cook you up for dinner then have a civilized and equal conversation with you. My sister, she just turned 16 a few months ago, and has showed no signs of shrinking. I don't know about her; she's probably dangerous as well, as she loves to eat and snacks almost all the time. She'd probably wouldn't think twice about adding you to her growing teenage body. Jason expressed how he didn't care if it was dangerous, since Kara would be their to protect him, and that it wouldn't harm her to visit at least once during the semester.
After that, Kara packed a small bag with a change of clothes and some textbooks. She then stuck Jason between her breasts and headed out to her car and drove for home. Jason wondered if Kara's mother and sister were like she claimed, as people sometimes exaggerate about what their families are like. It only took about twenty minutes or so for them to reach Kara's family home, a larger than average one story home. Kara walked up to the door with her bag and rang the doorbell.
