Battle for the Trivorce - Page 5 - Charge Them! - By tummyterrors - Overview
The last thing you want to do is get any closer to those snapping jaws, but you don’t have any better ideas. Link is good with a sword… you’ll just have to trust him.
“I-I’m ready when you are,” you whimper, although you don’t feel ready. He nods, and the pair of you tense, preparing to charge through the line of plants. He takes off suddenly, and you follow close behind. One of the plants snaps at him and he deftly severs its head. Another lunges at you, but Link delivers a swift chop to its open mouth, sending the top jaw flying through the air. With that, you’re through the ring of deadly plants and free.
“Oh my goodness,” you gasp, breathing heavily. “That was- Mmmgff!”
You shriek suddenly as something chomps down over your head, muffling your voice. The beheaded plant was still alive! Its barbs sink into your chest and back painfully, its tongue slithering down your back and around your midsection. You thrash and twist in a blind panic, falling over on your back.
“Link! Link, help!” you scream, kicking your legs as the predator gobbles you up. Suddenly, it jerks and goes still, allowing you to slowly worm your way out. “G-guh!” you exclaim as Link pulls your head free, and you scramble to your feet frantically. Your upper body burns from the acid, especially where the barbs hooked your delicate flesh. You try to wipe the caustic slime from your face, grimacing in pain. Link gives you a concerned look, but you shake him off. “I’m f-fine… we need to keep going,” you pant. “Let’s get away from here.” The plants are beginning to sink back into the earth, and you don’t want to stick around to see where they’ll pop back up. Link takes your hand and you hurry away, following the wagon trail once more. After a while, you come across a stream, and you collapse on the bank, catching your breath.
“How many times is something going to try and eat me today?” you whine, washing your hands and face in the water.
Almost as if in response to your question, a pair of bluish white hands shoot out of the water and grab you by the head. Hungry, humanoid eyes stare up at you through the water. How did this thing sneak up on you? Too late to wonder about that, you only have a split second to react! What do you do?
