Man of Destiny - Page 29 - Practical Application of Enchanted Gems - By nomnom451 - Overview
Mustafa pulls the from the shelf. He feels a vibration in his satchel as the book opens to a page in the middle of the volume entitled: Chapter 39: Amplifiers written by Pierre Devalle. Mustafa reads the page.

Amplifiers, also known by the inelegant colloquialism, “boon stones” are crystals that have a synchronistic vibrational quality with a sentient being’s aura allowing it to increase the magician’s manifesting potential. The total output of a given amplifier is modified by the type of crystal’s compatibility with the aura of the magician and its size. For example, fire sign aurae are strongest with garnet but weakest with water sign gems such as sapphires. The elemental relationship between magician and gem forms the constant of the amplifier’s magic potential which is increased in direct proportion with the gems size.

The scholars of the fae have learned a very potent method of optimizing the potential of amplifiers. By heating Fae amber to its melting point and allowing it to mix with the blood of a certain individual, it will freeze into a unique gem that is tethered to that particular bloodline. Although it is an immensely time consuming process, the results of this metallurgy are unparalleled in all known disciplines of magic. This is the principle behind the magnum opus of faecraft, the notorious Heart of Dolhan.

Here the transcript breaks and there is a drawing of a large red gemstone identical to the one Sinbad handed Mustafa the night before.

“Ugh. Pierre.” Sage comments with an eye-roll while peeking over Mustafa’s shoulder. “I mean don’t get me wrong he definitely knows his stuff when it comes to magic but I would take anything you read from him with a massive grain of salt.”

“Why?” Mustafa asks, closing the book.

“Because he is an evil, twisted, avaricious, conman who would sell his own mother for a bag of gold.” She hisses angrily.

“Damn.”

“Sorry I keep ruining the mood.” Her angry expression softens to her normal hospitable smile. “The water for our tea is ready.”
