An Adventurer’s Risks and Rewards - Page 1 - An Adventurer’s Risks and Rewards - By alockwood1 - Overview
Welcome to Drunger. A magical Fantasy-type world full of many things, a strange resurrection magic being one of them. Should one die of anything other than sickness or old age, they meet up with Death. The robed skeleton has a little chat with them, talking about how things were since their last meeting. Keeping things professional, Death praises those who had done good deeds, and criticizes those who had done wrong. Afterwards, the skeleton restores the person’s body back to full health, and places the soul back inside of it.

Given that the world is full of many dangerous, being able to come back to life after a bandit or wild animal attack, or some sort of accident, is a blessing, to say the least. In fact, one of the rules that is said is to never anger Death, no matter what is said. After all, they might not restore one’s body, and instead send them unto a place that is full of pain and suffering.

Of course, in addition to restoring the body, Death can even alter it. For some, this is a punishment – a once strong and muscular bandit might find themselves turned into a scrawny weakling. For others, this is a reward – a relatively weak man that had tried to protect those that they loved might come back stronger. Death can even change a person’s species, or gender, and again, this could be a punishment, or a reward.

As for Drunger itself, it is a land full of many different kinds of creatures and peoples – some are friendly to others, and there are those who are not. One dragon might be willing to allow a traveler to spend the night in their cave in exchange for a story, or a minor service, like removing an itchy dead scale that refuses to fall off, and another dragon of the same type isn’t going to be so nice to the would-be guest.

Then, there’s the various jobs. Some are the average sort – farming, blacksmith, herbalist, baker, butcher, candlestick-maker. Others though, are a bit more, unique, even among the “normal” sorts. For instance, the Red Light District, as it were, caters to clients of all shapes and sizes, and even has workers of all shapes and sizes. For instance, if a female halfling wishes to ride the dick of a male dragon the size of a three story home, it’s not too difficult for a meet-up to be arranged – usually at the dragon’s cave – and she will indeed have the opportunity to do it with him. Of course, the halfling tends to be very tired afterwards. That being said, the dragon might want to be paid, in the form of a halfling for their meal, meaning that the halfling will be taking another type of ride as a result. This, of course, is part of the arrangement, the halfling reforming nearby, perhaps with an alteration, or two.

Since the reformation magic tends to render the usual full-scale warfare almost useless, besides destroying cities and such, and creating more angry people, battles on Drunger are more akin to exceptionally large tournaments, with a list of rules about what’s allowed, as well as ways to get points. Creatively killing foes, especially a large number of them, grants a large number of points, as does killing those that killed you. After an agreed upon time – four hours, or a week, or whatever – the points are compared, and the side with the most wins. Terms of the win might include giving up leadership of a nearby city, or a better trade arrangement.

That being said, there are plenty of dangers. Bandits are a common annoyance, stealing goods, enslaving travelers, and more. But, there’s also the large predatory beasts, like rats the size of ponies for instance, among others, who like to attack and eat travelers. Sometimes though, they have their uses, such as if one is dying of sickness or hunger, and they can even be tamed, and trained to kill quickly and painlessly.

Death also has another blessing – if one is injured, and can feel pain, they are not dying yet, though if they feel no pain, they are going to die.

Now, to start your Adventure. In fact, it starts with a meeting with Death, after meeting some large hungry rats.

Rules -

1. Spelling and Grammar are a must.
2. No Red Links or Loop Backs. I find those unoriginal, and annoying.
3. Any Fantasy race is allowed. After figuring out what you once were, you may change things – including race and gender.
4. You keep the knowledge and skills you once had in prior forms, but a larger body might have issues making smaller things, and smaller bodies might have issues carrying heavier things. This includes fighting knowledge – magic, swordsmanship, archery, and the like.
5. Any vore is allowed – Oral, Anal, Cock, Unbirth, Soft, Hard. Depending on your form, you may be Predator, Prey, or Both.
6. Sex is allowed – straight, homosexual, or something really crazy.
7. Death always knows what you did, and can punish or reward you in your next form, depending upon what you’ve done.
8. Any questions – Ask me.

You groan. Good news is, no pain. Bad news is, you’re a figure made of light. You got, well, a body, head, and the general form of what you once had. Worse than that, you remember what happened – large stinking rats had attacked you while you were in the wilds between settlements. They had swarmed you, biting you, and then, well, one tore out your throat – it ended things.

Now, you looked around. The place wasn’t scary, which was okay. You saw a cushion, or something. It was inviting. You floated over to it. You then took in more of the surroundings. There were more cushions, each with a figure of light on them. One sat next to you.

“First time?”

You looked at them. “What?”

“Is this your first death?”

You nod.

“What was it?”

You chuckled nervously. “Big rats.”

“Ah,” the other figure said. “Those are annoying. At least with a group of cannibalistic goblins you might be able to convince them to let you take your things off and place them into a neat pile before they kill you.”

“Did that happen to you?” you asked.

The other nodded. “That was the first time I died,” they said. “This time involved a dragon, and their cock.”

“You got killed having sex with a dragon?” you asked.

“No,” the other said. “They had a rooster friend of the smaller chickenfolk sort that wanted to crawl up my ass. Two problems – they were bigger than I expected, and they were both afraid of the dark and claustrophobic. Third problem was that they had rather sharp talons on their feet – tore me up real good. On the plus side, I’ll be two thousand gold richer, once I’m reformed.”

“Must of hurt,” you said.

“First dozen frantic scratches, or so,” the other said. “After that though, no pain, so, I simply waited until the inevitable happened.”

“Still, I’m surprised that you were willing to do that,” you said.

“For two thousand gold, there’s not much you’d turn down,” the other said. “That, and we’d all been drinking pretty heavily. Managed to do a halfling once – thought that it would be similar. “

“So, what are you?” you asked.

“Usually, an orc, although I was human the first few times, until I decided to change things up.”

“Oh, explains a few things,” you said.

That was when a door opened, and your name was called.

“I guess that’s me,” you said.

“Well, if you’re near Vizoon, visit the Dancing Blue Moon Inn,” the other said. “You’ll find me there, depending upon what you’re into.”

You, more or less, floated past the door, and saw a seat. You went to it. Seated at a desk across was a skeleton wearing a black robe.

“HELLO,” they intoned. “I SEE THAT THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME. I’LL KEEP THINGS SIMPLE. I’LL LOOK OVER MY INFORMATION ON YOU, AND GIVE YOU MY OPINION ON THINGS. AFTER THAT, I’LL EITHER REFORM YOUR BODY, OR GIVE YOU A NEW ONE.”

They picked up a scroll, and unrolled it. They went through it.

“AH, YOU ARE…….
