You let out a high-pitched scream of terror. Dragons were known man eaters, and you doubted that this was an exception in a small section of your panic-seized mind. You scrambled to your feet and ran away from the beast as fast as you could - only to fall when a weight pressed against your back. You were rolled over as some of the weight disappeared. You soon discovered that you were being held under the dragon's huge talon. It lowered its head and looked at you with irritation.
"Why did you try to run?" it asked disapprovingly. "You didn't have to be rude, and there's no point regardless."
You were shocked by its literacy. The dragon could talk? You thought that dragons were just animals. Giant, dangerous animals, yes, but just animals. Now, it appeared that you were wrong.
