Suddenly, just as Sakura was about to destroy the final pillar, an energy field suddenly appeared around it. Sakura's punch connected with the shield and it bounced off harmlessly. Flummoxed, Sakura punched the shield again, but still it did nothing. She then punched again and again and finally delivered one huge devastating bunch, but still force field stood and pillar remained undamaged.
Hinata, meanwhile, grew worried when she saw that the dome had still not dissipated. Activating her Byakugan, she searched for Sakura and the final pillar. She soon found Sakura who was next to the pillar and appeared to be fruitlessly attacking it. Hinata decided to rush to her location to investigate and, in a matter of minutes, had rejoined her comrade.
"Sakura! What's going on?" she cried.
"Dammit!" Sakura cried. "It's the pillar! There's a force field around it!"
Finally arriving right next to Sakura, Hinata got a good look at the pillar and saw that her words were true.
"No matter how hard I hit, I just can't break through!" Sakura said.
"It...It must be some kind of fail safe," Hinata said.
Suddenly, a morbid realization dawned on Sakura. "Dammmit! Of course!" she cried. "Marunomi wanted this all along! She knew we couldn't destroy the dome. She wanted to split us up!"
Hinata's heart filled with dread as the grim situation sank in for her too.
"Come on, we need to hurry!" Sakura said. "We need to get back to Temari and the others! And then we'll force Marunomi to deactivate the dome!"
"R...Right!" Hinata said.
And so the two ran off, regrettably leaving the villagers to continue to suffer beneath the dome.
