Using her Byakugan, Hinata had quickly been able to locate Marunomi. The rogue ninja had managed to gain some distance on them, but they continued to follow her at a steady pace. Marunomi made a few twists and turns as she fled, but still Hinata managed to keep sight of her. Soon, the trio had managed to catch up with her and all three of them could see her.
"There she is," Sakura said.
"Alright, we'll see if we can get the drop on her," said Temari. "Sakura, when I say so, try to hit her with a kunai."
"Right," Sakura replied.
The three kunoichi continued to follow the rogue ninja, steadily getting closer, while Marunomi apparently remained unaware of them. Finally, Temari saw an opening.
"Alright Sakura, now!" Temari said.
As instructed, Sakura threw a kunai at the escaping ninja. The weapon headed straight for her, but, at the last minute, Marunomi leapt out of the way of its trajectory. However, she continued along her way, as if she hadn't even noticed.
Temari and the others weren't sure what to think. Perhaps Marunomi really wasn't aware of them and she had dodged just by sheer luck.
"Throw two more," Temari said to Sakura.
Sakura threw two kunai straight at Marunomi and, again, she dodged them swiftly and smoothly in succession. Now it was clear, Marunomi knew they were there. And Marunomi knew that they knew that.
Marunomi turned her head to side and glared at them through the corner of her eye. Then, suddenly, she swung around and a glowing beam emerged from her arm. The beam moved about in arc, heading straight for the trio.
"LOOK OUT!" cried Temari.
