“Um, Grampa?” starts your sister, a littler nervously.
“What’s up?” he asked, idly rubbing his stomach. “Don’t worry, you can ask me.”
“I...” she stammers. “I want you to eat me up!” she suddenly blurts out.
Both you and your grandfather look at her with wide eyes. After a pause, he chuckles warmly and shakes his head.
“Oh darling,” he says with a smile. “Why would you want something like that?”
“Well,” says your sister, looking at the ground as she talks. “Whenever we have dinner with you and Grandma you’re always saying you’re still hungry no matter how much you eat. You said last visit that you’ve never really been full. And it makes me sad because feeling full is like the best thing ever.”
She shifts her feet and looks up to your grandfather, her voice growing more excited and insistent as she talks.
“And I think you should be full like really full. And mom is saying I’m a cute plump thing and I bet I could totally fit in your belly and you’d finally get to feel full and I’d feel so special if I got to be the reason you had a full tummy!”
Your grandfather pauses and strokes his bearded chin. He seems to be looking at your sister differently than he ever has before. A low growl rumbles out from his prominent gut.
“Well...” he says.
