There's a guard to the left and the right, with the door in front. You don't know if they're predators like you are, but they have halberds with long reach, while you're unarmed. If you show signs of trying to escape, they could easily attack before you can grab them. Not to mention the numbers advantage...
It really doesn't seem like a worth while risk. It's not like your new mistress could be any worse than your old master. She's just a (possibly prophetic, definitely magical) librarian, after all. What's she going to do, eat you on the spot?
