You feel your own cheeks redden when you see her blush. Maybe she likes you? You draw back a little. "I think maybe I've been taking advantage of your hospitality-" you blurt, and she backs away. "Was it me? Please don't go!" she begs. "I don't know how the villagers would think of you, and it's too dangerous for someone who doesn't know the area." She grasps your wrist, her eyes deeply concerned. "Please. I-I'm worried about you." But you are a little weirded out, silly as it is. "Don't be," you stammer. "I can fend for myself. Really." You jump out of the bed and march towards the door. Jitoru moves to follow you. "No, you can't-," she protests, but you silence her. "Don't follow me," you say gently. "I just have to find my way home." She bites her lip but obeys, and you leave. Finding yourself outside on a little hill, you follow the path leading up from the house. Soon you come to a fork in the road. You peer to the left; you can see smoke rising and bare tips of some houses. A village, maybe? To the right, you stare deep into a forest, perhaps the one in which you were found. Where to?
