a few new infos have been revealed on Metroid: Other M (action game):
“This project between three companies, which we call Project M, is progressing extremely well. This Metroid is being developed with the aim of the ideal form of the old Metroid. It’s a game that can be realized because of the Wii. However, different from the rest of the series, this time we’re strongly depicting the human side of Samus through such things as movies. She’s a strong woman, but she also has a fragile side. We want to make a game whose charms can be felt from the story areas and these human touches as well. It’s an action game, but it’s capable of having a clear emotional side. A lot of people are playing it, so we’re planning a lot of things. We haven’t clearly finalized a followup or anything, but we’d like to do some new things.”
- Since it’s a big project, there have been a few issues, but the development team has ironed them out together
- Team Ninja moving the “2D jump action game” into “3D action.”

WII GAME OF THE WEEK: Tatsunoko VS Capcom
genre: Fighting game
Publisher: Capcom

well, Capcom made us wait quite a lot for this, but at last it's here! Finally we can get our hands (or paws :P) on one of the most waited fighting games ever! So let's start analyzing this game ^^

From the graphic standpoint Capcom did a good job for the most part. The style is colourful and the cel-shaded style of the graphics fits very well with the action, also supporting the Tatsunoko side, since all of those characters are from anime. The light effects are very nice and the movements of the characters will really give you an old-school feeling with over-the-top and odd moves, making this game the perfect spiritual sequel of the Marvel VS Capcom series.the character models are pretty good, even if not awesomely detailed. Same goes with the stages, wich could have worked with a bit more of detail work, but are quite creative in the style (zombies taking pics of you while fighting....it's priceless X3) and variety of what happens on screen. The cutscenes of some of the special moves can be described with a few words: flashy and good-looking. You'll love them X3

The gameplay is the core of the game. Fully taking the spirit of Marvel VS Capcom 2, the gameplay of Tatsunoko VS Capcom is fast and filled with combos, specials and counters. It isn't a button masher though. Mashing buttons on the pad might help you getting trough some of the stages of the arcade mode, but this game, to tell the truth, is a very technical fighting game, easy to learn, but hard to master.

Every character doesn't only have his/her own move, but also his/her own speed, size and style. For example Yatterman 1 is very good at quick combos, Tekkaman is slow but haves long-range attacks thank to his spear, Joe the condor is a brutal fighter, Megaman Volnutt can even change weapons equipped on him.

if this isn't enough the game offers you a few moves beside the usual combos, grabs and special moves. There are a couple of counters that let you struggle away from grabs or an explosion of energy that can even block special moves. Plus, there's also a way to sacrifice a small part of your HP to lenghten your combos, another peculiarity that, along with the Tag Team system of the game adds a lot of strategy to the fights despite their speed and brutality. I also noticed that they re-balanced the game and some of the cheapest characters. The giant characters aren't immune to most special moves anymore for example, making them less cheap than they were in the previous version of the game.

The story...well, not much of a story in a fighting game X3 I'll just say that a dark force opened different gates between worlds, breaking the dimensional balance...this dark force is something that capcom fans know and is the last boss of the arcade mode, but I won't spoil the fun ;3 you'll see by yourself! each character haves his/her own ending and, despite the lack of an animated ending (thing that was in the previous version in japan) I had fun picking up all the capcom references in them, you'll surely find them quite enjoyable and a nice reward for clearing the arcade mode.

The soundtrack is unluckily inferior to its japanese counterpart, replacing the character themes with upbeat music for each stage...the tunes aren't bad at all, a few of them I'd probably listen on my ipod too, but it's a shame that the themes have been taken off...that would have helped letting you know the tatsunoko characters a bit more perhaps.

the game is what all so-called hardcore gamers (oh god, I hate this term, but meh x.x) have been waiting for. I't easy to pick up and deep enough to spend hours just training and mastering the characters. The added online mode only adds to the lenght and fun of the game, being almost lagless (unless your un into someone on the exact other side of the world or someone with a veeeeery slow sucky connection), the framerate is almost perfect, going down very rarely and the variety of characters (26 of them) will surely make everyone happy.

This game is recommended to every gamer who doesn't hate fighting games of this kind really. For the ones who are afraid of not knowning any of the tatsunoko characters I say: nevermind that...just like jappies learned about marvel characters with marvel vs capcom you will now learn about the tatsunoko characters if you play this game. Who knows ? you may even find some new fave character in the group!

so yeah, this is certainly a must-have for wii owners, something that will probably give you many fun evenings with friends too :3
