My friend, Dave, his grandfather gave his father Hitler's coffee table. His grandfather helped rebuild the European railways after the war. During this, he got the coffee table from the Wolf's Lair, Hitler's retreat. He gave it to Dave's father.
I don't know how long he had it, but one day, before Dave was born or was still very young (not entirely sure when, but he's 21 to give you a time estimate), his parents decided to move. On the first trip, his dad couldn't fit the coffee table. So he left it in the care of one of his brothers, Dave's uncle, till he got back. It was a few months (I think they moved from somewhere out west to South Carolina) till Dave's father got back.
When he returned, he learned his brother's wife had gotten a hold of the table, SANDED IT DOWN, AND...
