Between stories at the moment. What's next? Posted 5 years ago
Hey, there. Been a while since we all just talked like this, hasn't it? So much has changed. A global pandemic on Gardenia Earth, I got a gallery, I wrote another novella. A lot has happened.

Enough about the past, though. Let's talk about what's next. That's right, I'm not working on anything but outlines at this point, with no actual prose in sight. I've got several things I could do with the Eanli stories, but none of the concepts I have right now are more pressing than any others. Before I do anything long again, here's some shorts I've got ready to cook up:

Bravery Test: A group of young prey embark on a simple test of mettle: venture out during hunting hours. Is their plan good enough, or will their squabbles doom them? With those four...

The Perfect Student (plus some news) Posted 5 years ago
I'm just cross-posting from here, as usual: https://aryion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=57833&p=2802698#p2802698

It's a new story, short. I'm getting right down to it: this method sucks. It's time for a gallery. People find things that way, and also watched tags. To be honest, I do want people to read these, even if it's niche. Even if I'm improving on my own, my original intention of giving back hasn't changed. If one hundred people read something I wrote and think, "neat" and don't say anything, well, that's one hundred reasons for me to be satisfied. So, I'm donning my cape and going yonder, and it looks like you're all coming with me.

Small addendum: HUG THAT WOLF! HUG THAT WOLF! HUG THAT WOLF! HUG THAT WOLF! (this makes sense if you read...

Hold Each Other Tight Posted 5 years ago
It's been three weeks since I first posted Hunting Paradise, and now we return directly to some of the characters for a new short story. Ready your mind-maw for a more filling meal than Watercolors, as this one is about 15k words worth of Eliviza the pine marten noblewoman taking the driving seat for a while. She's a complicated, challenging character to write for, but that's what makes her fascinating. I could be wrong, actually -- you can judge for yourself by checking out the forum thread linked below:

With three complete works up, I feel like that's probably enough to serve as a sample for a gallery. I should probably start painting thumbnails for these after they're done.
Watercolors - Another story from Eanli Posted 5 years ago
I added a short story to that one thread. I figure generating a few short stories, which tend to be more attractive for getting to know a writer, would assist in getting a gallery. Oh, who am I kidding? I was going to start writing these no matter what.

This one is only 6K words long, and I mean that. You can read it in one sitting, and then suffer emotionally from it the rest of the day! Very efficient. I also found editing and drafting to be a breeze compared to writing something novel-length. Themes, characters, conflict, and go!

By the way, this is the first of many stories for The Book of Predators: The Never-Ending Anthology of Stories From Eanli (working title). This week's predator: wolverine! These stories are going to be a bit more experimental as I try...

Hunting Paradise: complete! Posted 5 years ago
I made CONTENT! Consumable, wonderful CONTENT! See the thread here: https://aryion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=57833

Edit: After a few hours, there has been virtually no interest from the forum. Looks like I'm taking the L on this one. The 'L' stands for Lessons!

1. I either prefaced it very poorly and drove away the intended audience or very well, and successfully attracted the none that existed. I choose to believe that it's the former! I have changed the title to better hook/divide the incoming views. I realized that adding the term "anthro" is the most divisive thing, even thought non-furry people may enjoy it. There is a heavy emphasis on human characters in it, but I don't think that's a deal-breaker for who remains. In fact, anthro/human...
