yes, it was the right balance of Humor and Dark. All the characters were likable, The side effects of using powerful attacks felt more real, like lousing your ability to speek, or becoming in a wheel chair. and the animation didn't hurt my eyes. In the end Yuki Yuna is the better show.

Flipping it on it's head isn't a bad idea, but the execution was, Yuki Yuna did it better.

I have, and they're great. This tone was chosen to take the stereotype that magical girl anime is supposed to be cutesy and happy, and flipped it on its head. And that is honestly genius. Also, who are you to decide what choices by the writer are good and bad when you don't even understand what he was trying to do?
