A good monster researcher needs plenty of specimens to study. It just so happens that once Rett evolved to a Vampire his reproductive ability returned, so it's only natural to study vampire offspring. Unfortunately, one of the specimen donors tried to leave the testing group early and had to be confined for a while. Of course, Lorraine still has other work to do, so she has to keep her wayward donor on a tight leash.
