Vanyar acts as the mobile "platform" for CT's hacker Satomi. While the taur can easily relocate of defend as required, she keeps the companies' tech wizard save and protected inside, under her armored yet flexible skin.
By the size of the taur's belly, though, either Satomi got additional gear or a second ally for this mission.
Neither the weight nor the rain would bother Vanyar much, though.
