I'm starting a new series dedicated to Aztec Sacrifice, this time I would like to focus on the symbolism of the sacrifices.

Said the quest giver to the shinobi from Konoha behind her. The assignment was simple. Protect her while examining a mysterious relic, but it wasn't that simple.

The first unusual thing was the relic itself. When the team arrived at the site, they could take a close look at it. It was a stone ring immersed in a stone platform. Surprisingly, there was nothing around that would allow us to determine where it came from. There was only a forest around without any traces of human activity. Everything looked as if it had suddenly just grown from underground in a place where there had been no people before.
However, the strangest thing was the center of the circle. It was completely filled with a sheet of black, shiny material.

Soon, the archaeologist began the inspection, while the rest of the team was setting up camp.

-Strange.

-What's so strange?
Hinata wondered.
-The entire structure is made of limestone, but the problem is the disc inside the circle.

They both approached it and could see their exact reflection. Hinata herself was surprised by this.

-It's obsidian. Volcanic glass.

-There are no volcanoes in the area.

-True, but someone went to the trouble of shaping such an obsidian slab so perfectly. Not to mention placing it in such a remote area. She had also never seen such a large piece of obsidian.

-Why would someone do that?
Hinata wondered whoever it was would have to have a reason. She looked at the mirror again. She felt uneasy as if someone was watching them from the other side.
