Honestly, I'd view it as the cell waking up 'as' Mint. Not wanting to ever escape her sister's ovum. And feeling 'hungry' in wanting to digest another morsel...
But that'd, likely lead to the side effect of either Valerie being more horny, in wanting to unbirth another person to keep "Mint" company... Or, "Mint" just sinks deeper into Valerie. Until she wakes up inside her mind as an 'imaginary sister'.
