Evening dawns once again at the Hakurei Shrine. After a long day of toil and labor, the human-youkai duo commonly called the Illusionary Barrier Team consisting of the shrine's miko Reimu and the sage of Gensokyo and gap youkai Yukari have prepared everything for an important celebration. Tonight, they are to celebrate Ghost Princess of Hakugyokurou's birthday.

Despite being dead, Yuyuko was once a living human and still continues to celebrate the old traditions of her former living life. And one tradition of a birthday is to give a gift. Yukari knew this and thought, what better gift for a ghost princess than a bonsai of her own cherry blossom?

Laying on the stone pathway to the shrine, Yukari entrusts Reimu to watch over her gift as she heads out to pick up her friend for the celebration.
