Sometimes fear is the appropriate response.
So anyone remember that 3D animated Tim Burton movie from 2009 featuring Elijah Wood about the ragdolls who fight machines? No? Yeah, I don't blame you.
So I recently rewatched 9 on Netflix, and then this popped into my head, and would not come out until I finished drawing it. Anyways, there are a few ups and downs to this image. First of all, this is right on the transition between using my old Wacom Intuos Draw tablet, and my new tablet that arrived in the mail just yesterday, and you can DEFINITELY tell what parts were done with my old tablet, and what was done with my new. My new tablet is a Parblo Coast10, and I'm in love with it already! It has a screen on it, which REALLY helps me out, cause I can actually SEE what I'm drawing. Plus, it was only 200$, which is WAAAY cheaper than getting a 700-800$ Cintiq tablet! Anyways, 7's body was done with my cheapo, 80$ Wacom, and the belly and all the detailing was done with my Coast10. I also drew 6 in the background entirely using my Coast10. The dialogue references the movie, so you probably won't get it if you haven't seen it. By the way, spoiler alert, 2 dies. Also, 6's "He's trapped! He's inside!" is in direct reference to when the ragdolls souls are being absorbed into the talisman by the robot. It's actually a line he says from the movie, and I thought it worked perfectly here! The lines, despite being crystal clear when I drew them, came out all jagged when I zoomed out. I think that's more of a problem with me than the tablet though. After all, it's a new tablet, therefore a new experience, and I'm still getting used to it. I will say though, I definitely like being able to use pressure sensitivity! Before, with my old tablet, it had two options. One was to use it like a tablet, where each spot on the tablet corresponded to a spot on your screen, and the other was to use it like a mouse, so when you reached too far in one area, you could put the pen down on another area, and still have your cursor in the same spot. I found myself using mouse mode instead, because for the life of me, I could NOT get used to tablet mode! I needed to be able to SEE what I was drawing! Anyways, there was a bit of a trade off when doing that. First of all, it controlled to my liking, but I could no longer use pressure sensitivity. That's why I like my Coast10 a LOT better, because not only can I use pressure sensitivity, but I can also see my work as I do it. This is also the first time in a drawing that I've used pattern overlay, to get 7's burlap look! So like I said, ups and downs. Ups, came out presentable, downs, jagged lines. I'm sure I'll be able to get used to my tablet in the future though so that there's less jaggedness! I also really like how the belly came out. In my opinion, the shape seems very likely for something like ragdoll vore, because it's like a bag inside, and bags can take a shape like this when full. Sure, it could be better, but at the same time, it could also be worse! It all depends on point of view. Anyways, if you haven't seen 9, definitely go give it a watch! It's on Netflix now, so that should be easy. (Super easy in fact, as you only have to type in a single character into your search bar.)
