Being digested by an infected person is, if the squirming, screaming and visible dissolving is anything to go by, an inconceivable, extinction-level nightmare... but at least it's quick.

People think they're safe from the infected when they're in containment, but they don't think about what their acidity does to their cell walls over time. They don't think about how they ooze into the crevices. They don't think about how if your planet is already host to phase four blobs devouring people on mass, there's certainly phase fives eating towns at the very least. The sensible thing to do is just evacuate the planet when you first notice people turning green.
