The 8 year-old Megan is forcefully seperated from her brother by a portal and finds herself in an unknown dimension beyond her home, a dimension ruled by myths and magic. Her only way to return home is opening another portal with one of the portal stones, though this bears a high risk, as the artifacts are unpredictable. Yet she is wants to do, with the help of the witch-clan in Kaphir. Before that there is a 3-day travel on foot ahead of her.
It's a dangerous journey, and soon Megan realizes that a raider, the wolfgirl Rikka, has picked up her trace, following her to pick the precious portal stone away from the little girl.
