Prickles
was more nervous than he let on as he tugged Brody towards the
Ringmistress's trailer. It was an ancient but well-kept looking
wagon, larger than the ones the other performers used. It was the
only one with that particular style, a more old-fashioned look, the
roof circular, making it look more like a tube than a wagon. But the
polished wood was expertly carved with Celtic knots and two dragons
intertwined around the door

Brody
froze, suddenly panicking. He'd been discovered already! He'd done
the exact opposite of what Prickles asked of him and now he was going
to be sent home! His mind reeled, trying to think of his options. He
could just explain his situation. Or lie! Lying was good too,
Prickles said that people joining the circus often had secret
reasons. Maybe begging, no, pleading would work better! He couldn't

one: Running Away...
"You
can't run from me, boy!"
The
dry autumn leaves crunched underfoot as Brody ran. He didn't even
know why he thought he could escape through the forest like this.
This was his father playground, as much a home to him as the rusting
trailer he was frantically running away from. He felt like a wounded
