...dude. That is so...freakin'...CHEATING! Even the guy from effing SAW didn't go after the people that had broken out of his traps and escaped his death maze. Does this...honorless creep have ANY integrity whatsoever? He LOST. It's not even REMOTELY honorable to do what he's done, but he can't even accept it when someone outsmarts him or outperforms him?
Tell you what I'll even play your "he's a predator" game. If the whole point is for him to just collect prey, why bother with a stupid disguise game and these elaborate scenarios? For fun? Obviously he didn't count on any actually being able to outsmart him or anything. So that's a dumb move on his part, not planning for that. Why not just drug them and eat them when they're all together and passed out? Why even bother disguising his form at all, why not just stick with being a dragon? And if you want to take the opposite position of "he wouldn't play a game or design a game where he could lose"....then it's not a game or a challenge. If a challenge can't be LOST, then there's no inherent value to it. Your success means jack diddly because you didn't struggle for it. It's like me saying I was clean and drug free for a hundred days when I never had a drug problem. Who cares?
Not quite. For him it's all for fun. There's a sadistic streak in him, obviously. Just gulping them up all day isn't any fun. He's playing with his food, that's all.
Hedonistic, you bet. Lizard? No, Dra-gon. He doesn't do that tongue thing. Pauly Shore? Not that's just plain insulting.
The whole point of the story is to provoke an emotional reaction...and not much different from much of the writing contributions here. So I guess I've succeeded.

After all, they're only mortals...

And your character is a hedonistic lizard with wings. He's on the same level of accomplishment and personal interest as Pauly Shore.

Maybe since the prey forced the dragon to break character the dragon will not digest her and spite her back out.

Brand usually keeps his prey in a harem. Eating them is just his favorite method of capture. Not that it's mentioned in this story...
