This doesn't take place right after Morrigan's. Cell is going after Tifa for her magical resistance on his/her quest to absorb Hild.

Sooort of. S/He does technically Absorb Hild at the end, it's just that Hild's soul is to <i>powerful</i> for Cell to subsume. And not even in the manner where Morrigan is technically slave to her. Hild just nukes Cell's soul and takes over the body.
