 There was some more debate over the wording of the law and then the crowd went silent.
 The mayor said "If there are no other objections we will proceed to the voting. Vote yea for the law or nay against it. If you wish to abstain from the vote please do not vote or put both slips in the discard box."
 There were booths set up in front of the platform. People lined up at booths according to their last name. Alice had to move to a different aisle.
