So one of my old favorite series since a long time back as been Macross. Granted, for more than just the fact that giant aliens are totally a thing in that world, Its also just a good scifi series that kinda details the events of humanity's first contact war and things that happen after. Infact by the time of Macross Frontier, Humans and Zentradi are for the most part, living in integrated society and the main character is in a squadron of mixed species. Also, some pretty bitchin robot fights with transforming vehicles. Probably one of the few series that had a pretty good reason for the invention of giant robots and transforming vehicles: when humans were studying the crashed spaceship on earth, they deduced that the aliens who used it were many meters tall. Any potential combative engagement would render standard infantry at a disadvantage, so they created vehicals that could engage a potential zentradi threat both as artillery loaded vehicals and as face-to-face infantry. Suffice to say, even after the war concluded, the vehicles were so useful for space faring operations and such that they continued to be produced and developed alongside newer versions of zentradi power suits. There was also a lot of good stuff about how Zentradi exposed to human culture didn't know how to deal with things like music and such, as they were cloned and bred to be warriors and culture was rather alien to them, and ultimately it was the power of human creativity (particularly music) that caused a schism in the zentradi and eventually ended the war. But I digress, I've gotten a bit off track here.
Anywho, made a few characters a while back for an rp that were Zentradi (well two of them are Meltrandi, the word for a female Zentradi) and eventually got around to having some references made. This is the "Beanstalk" squadron, comprised of 3 zentradi marines and one human pilot, so yeah, my character Kenshin isn't just in there for scale/to be stepped on.
From Left to right we have as follows:
Caldera Kelein: a former Zentradi high commander from before the first contact war, but due to a cryogenics malfunction in a ship accident was preserved in her derelict ship for hundreds of years before she was eventually discovered. There was a bit of getting used to, as she was still from the time where zentradi were heavily militant (and more than a little xenophobic) but she's been adjusting well, even if she often remains strictly military on the surface. A little sensitive about her chest size, even if she constantly says its of no matter to her.
Eric Cream: a Zentradi reconnaissance engineer specializing in recovery and transportation of persons and resources. Though low rank, he's remarkably skilled, albeit maybe a bit cocky. And yes, he is actually wearing a female-oriented suit: due to his rather convincingly feminine proportions (often mistaken for a meltrandi) he fits better into the Meltrandi combat pods than the male ones, as well as the female suits fitting his proportions better. Due to production costs of Zentradi-sized gear out in space, it was just easier to modify a female suit for his proportions (they can auto adjust) rather than make a custom one for him. Plus, he likes to flaunt his curves a bit, so he doesn't mind that much. His nickname is "Sunshine" due to his bright personality and being pretty optimistic, if not a pretty cocky bastard. Childhood friends with his Cousin layla, he's actually pretty good at playing the drums and has moonlighted in her band occasionally.
Layla: Exceptionally tall for a Zentradi species standing at around 15.5 meters (Caldera on the short side at 9 and Eric on the smaller end of average between 10 and 12), Layla is actually a combat trained marine Zentradi, formerly belonging to a combat squad. However, a large portion of her squad became disenchanted with their way of life under command of a zealous officer and that larger portion went rogue and deserted under a misguided fundamentalist ideal of returning to the "original zentradi way of life' (IE, xenophobic warmongering conquerors). Though not agreeing with their ideas, for a while Layla was mislead on the true purpose of the desertion as someone of her size and combat expertise would be useful for her cause, however the truth was exposed shortly after they were all labeled deserters. She managed to escape and hid out on a border planet to escape both persecution as a deserter and her overzealous former unit still trying to forcibly recruit her. Eventually she was discovered by Kenshin (somewhat coincidentally as he was off course on an expedition and had to make an emergency landing) and the two were able to escape to a friendly outpost while in pursuit. A few of Layla's former unit were captured and marshaled (though most still remain at large), and the nature of Layla's incidental desertion was cleared up and she was reinstated. She left the combat division, as she had lost her taste for it after what happened, and joined up with Beanstal Squad in the Recon and Recovery division, as that sounded a lot more interesting to her. She had also developed a bit of a crush on Kenshin after he had helped rescue her from her situation. Do not mistake her for a lovestruck/helpless "sempai please notice me" personality though. She is ok with staying in a good friendship with him until the time is right to properly approach him about it. When the time comes though, she may have to bludgeon him over the head with it, as Kenshin can be remarkably oblivious to those sorts of things. Her hobby is playing guitar and vocals, and she is in a band when off duty that mostly plays covers of rock music. A side note, due to her exceptionally large size even for a zentradi, she had to have custom power armor and pod walker units made for her that could comfortably accept her size, however her more common field gear is actually just a heavily armored infantry suit with additional equipment and mobility units loaded on, as that is easier to maintain on average. She is cousins and childhood friends with Eric, and was responsible for his nickname "Sunshine". Also likes to reffer to her natural hair color as "electric-laser limeade".
Beanstalk Squadron: Though equipped somewhat for combat, their main focus are missions are actually in line with reconnaissance and exploration, Rescue and recovery, and transport and resource/technology acquisition. Occasionally they can be drafted into escort work with VIPs, though generally it is for areas where the local is the bigger threat than any potential combat situation. Like said before they are both trained and well equipped for some combat situations, but only because it is foolish not to be in their line of work, and generally they try to avoid direct combat or keep it to a minimum until backup can assist them if they find themselves in such a situation. Their base of operations is the F.S.D.F Innisfree, which is probably one of the smallest size sips in the SDF (super dimensional fortress) class of cruiser. There are more members of the Beanstalk Squadron working inside the Innisfree, but these four Layla, Eric, Caldera, and Kenshin, comprise the Beanstalk Squad's forward field team and main operational force when it comes to work outside the ship.
Normally these are non-vore characters in their original intent, but lets face it, everything on eka's cam have some alternate vorish version, so if anyone would like to see something regarding them in the future, vore or non-vore. I definitely wanna get more commissions of them since Dragga did such a good job, but I need more ideas.
Layla, Eric, Caldera, Kenshin, and Beanstalk Squadron are property of me.
Art and color is by the talented Dragga.
Zentradi/Meltrandi are from the anime series Macross and Macross frontier (and a couple others I forget the names of). Check it out when you can.
