Mary awoke with a shiver, the cold stone beneath her giving no comfort. She opened her eyes to see she was laying on the patio outside the backdoor of her house, clutching her belly. The only illumination was through the backdoor window, dimly lighting the patio around her. Though the night was cold and the floor was colder, a relaxing haze overlayed her head. She felt like something had gone terribly right earlier, but couldn't remember what. She tried to roll over, but her unfamiliar weight combined with the hazy good feeling made movement sluggish. Slowly, the pieces came to her.
 
Right, the project! The gelatin Mary had scavenged from old jell-o boxes, the polymer balls that took a whole day to make, the kiddie pool, and then there were...
Oh god, there were so many inside her. She thought she was going to die, they just kept coming and coming...and then something happened...
Right, something wonderful happened. She remembered suddenly feeling like everything was right with the world, that everything would be okay. Most of all she remembered that burning heat in her nether regions. She'd woken up drunk on the same feeling, but by now it had largely worn off. She tilted her head downwards, expecting to see the same ballooning, distended stomach as before, but her belly had actually shrunken considerably. She still had the same girth as a woman several months pregnant, and she could still make out the lumps of the gel-beads beneath her skin, but her skin no longer gave strained creaks and her stomach no longer churned with every breath she took.
 
Experimentally, Mary pushed herself to a sitting position, feeling the weight of her gut slosh to and fro with the effort. Oh, sweet freedom, how she'd longed for you! Mary shakily stood up, finding purchase on her feet for the first time since she stepped into that kiddie pool, and took a step towards the door-
 
-and nearly brained herself on the cold stone floor as one of her feet slipped up from under her. Thankfully she caught herself in time, but she glared in the direction of whatever it was she'd slipped on. A slimy gleam in the night revealed it to be none other than a polymer ball, though it was about the size of a golf ball instead of a baseball like she remembered. As her eyes adjusted, she realized that the floor of the patio -specifically the portion that was behind her- was littered with little gel-balls she'd expelled in her sleep. Mary put a hand to her chest with a relieved exhale.
"Thank god these things shrink, instead of..."
She didn't want to think of the state she would be in if the gel-beads had just kept growing inside her, instead pushing her focus to the future.
 
The future, as it just so happened, was getting the rest of these nightmare jelly balls out of her bowels as fast as possible. Mary put her hands on her belly, pushing the weight around to make sure nothing hurt. Sure enough, the only sensation to come with it was the gurgling, sloshing feeling as polymer balls bumped past each other in her guts. Soon she felt a different pressure, though this was one she was far more familiar with and only required a trip to the restroom.

Mary patted her now-flat belly once the deed was done, oddly noting that there wasn't much sensation to it. They just sorta...dropped out without resistance. And it seemed like her skin wasn't sporting any stretch-marks she could see, much to her surprise considering what the event felt like. The only feeling left now was an emptiness in her stomach, and an unfamiliar, almost imperceptible tingle below her gut. The former she could solve with dinner, and the latter...
 
...well, the latter she'd have to figure out later.
