Vampires are often depicted as having wings in some form or another - a cloak, literal bat wings, enveloping shadows - often dedicated to restraining their prey as they feed on it; for that purpose, an enormous snake makes a much better vampire, fully enveloping the prey with her body, clamping and holding the neck between her jaws, piercing with arbitrarily long fangs, given that they could be folded against the palate of the mouth...
The pain from the neck kiss will quickly fade, dulled by the warmth from anaesthetic agents released by glands near the teeth; the open wounds from the fangs will quickly close and soon heal after another measure of healing agents is introduced with the saliva; physical weakness and a foggy mind follow naturally with blood loss - and then, the classical enamorment with one's predator kicks in, just as described in vampire myths, any hypnosis being unnecessary.
Intoxication after drinking blood was always a part of being a vampire, do not question it.
Shifting the color of scales during the drinking is Baera's idea, it adds a nice flavor.
