I'm a bit confused by his vore and sexual preferences. Is he more straight when prey and more gay when pred?

Yep! Essentially I gave him the girl look for my friends who are fond of M/M. Since I heavily prefer F/M, Maka will pred whenever he looks like a girl to maintain that F/M in a way.
