For the past couple weeks I've been working on a design for a new hybrid species, With input/assistance from two amazing people ( FinWhale/JabiruCrocuta JabiruCrocuta and QWERTYdragon of FA ( https://www.furaffinity.net/user/qwertydragon )) I was able to finish the sketch for the basic design of the species, and then able to commission Jabiru for a digital ref of one.

Draquals are a fusion of rorqual whales (the ones with throat pleats, two prominent examples being blue whales (which this one is based on) and humpbacks) and dragons. Equipped with webbed feet and a powerful tail, the Draqual is most at home in the water but is fully capable of moving about on land, though its weight can cause some difficulties. Draquals tend to be friendly with smaller folks and are highly intelligent. While not born with the ability speech, they are fully able to learn almost any language and are known to make deals with fishing crews.

Their diet consists largely of entire schools of fish, their massive size requiring several feedings throughout the day, though they're known to eat anything and everything else that fits in their massive mouths. Like the rorquals, the Draqual features baleen, using it to filter the water from its mouth without allowing the prey within to escape. Once the water has been forced out of the mouth, the prey is then swallowed, taking a trip down the beast's expansive throat into it's three chambered stomach (see https://www.furaffinity.net/view/29733105/ for more info on multichambered whale stomachs, also done by Jabiru).

Subspecies are based on varying rorqual whales, with that species' average size determining the average size of the Draqual. Shoulder height is based on the whale species' average length x 0.75, and overall length is based on the whale's length x1.75.

Humpback Draqual - Basis: Humpback Whale - Basis Average Length: 40ft - Draqual Subspecies Average Shoulder Height - 30ft - Draqual Subspecies Average Length: 70ft
Blue Draqual - Basis: Blue Whale - Basis Average Length: 80ft - Draqual Subspecies Average Shoulder Height - 60ft - Draqual Subspecies Average Length: 140ft
