It seems the Ettercaps aren't interested in eating the humans they capture, so they move the cocooned damsels deeper into the caves and made a gambling game out of which damsel will get eaten first by the large worms that lurked in the cavern ceiling.
(I'm sure an adventurer or knight will save them soon enough.)
