So there’s been this thing going around you guys might have heard of called the Sailor Moon Redraw. Basically a bunch of people have been taking a still frame from the original anime and just drawing it in their own way. I figured the pose was perfect enough for me to do a little something with her and Kaa. I’ve actually been watching the original anime for the first time on Hulu, and what do I think of it?


Well, I know that I’ve only watched the first few episodes in a 200 episode series, but I have quite a few problems with the show, and the majority of them are with Usagi herself. I don’t know how much the SM fandom will come after me for saying this, but I hate Usagi so much. She’s a constant coward who needs to be told to get in the action, she’s selfish and constantly complains and cries about everything. Hell she cries so much that it’s actually one of her powers. The romance with her and the main dude is incredibly cliched “they hate each other, which must mean they love each other” Which not only do I question teaching that to kids, it’s overused as hell. Sorry if I also have problems with this pro girl show having the main character constantly need a man to encourage and help her, to the point where in one episode she says “The days of a woman needing a man are over” I literally bursted out laughing. I’m ok with Mercury and Mars saying that no problem because they’ve proven to be much more capable sailor scouts, but I can only think of 1 or 2 episodes beforehand where Sailor Moon acted on her own and didn’t need tuxedo mask. Thankfully once those 2 show up the show becomes a lot more interesting and engaging, so maybe it’ll be the same as more scouts start popping up. Again, I don’t expect them to bring their A game in the first 12 episodes of a 200 episode series, but by god they better bring it some time soon
