"A guard payed off. A few weapons smuggled in. A Window left open. A few bandits hidden. A Door blasted. A few soldiers dispatched.
A Castle Taken. Their royalty as well.

Despot had been through this run before. There were times she thought she'd grow board of it. Warmongering on the fields of battle was so much more fun then taking down a castle or city. She might die, she had panicked troops to command, it was actually a challenge! Taking a castle was always a bore. It's almost always ether a long, boring siege where they just wait for you to go away as they starve behind their walls, or a quick strike and surrender from the inside with the help of some of their underpaid swords.
Nothing Dynamic ever happens, no heroic last stands, no last ditch offensives to break the seige, not even a heroic rescue attempt from another kingdom's army! (Seriously, that would be so exciting, why does NO ONE keep their treaties?)
If it wasn't for the fact these cities were balloons full of gold and food, just waiting to be popped, she wouldn't even bother.

...Well, that, and one other reason. One Plump, Delectable, golden brown and crispy reason; Where there was gold, there were Nobility, were fattened up like P'orcs. Looking over her latest feast, the former princess of humanity, the elf exile couldn't help but smile. The celebratory feast was always her favorite part of a victory, and Nobility always tasted so much better then soldiers or peasants...
Other Princesses especially."

I like this version better, I like that the meat has sauce.
