I am working on my own TTRPG (Table top role playing game) like DnD. The name of this game is Tallamet, named after the world it takes place in. I wanted greater variety in the core species of tallamet. I hate the prevalence of what to me are just different colored humans. So we have humans on the list but there will be no elves or dwarves, or halflings, or gnomes, or goliaths, or orcs or...
From left to right we start with the Lucien. This is the only one of the bunch I consider an original species of mine even if they don't look much different than typical anthro fox. Luciens have the best senses of any species. They have thermal vision, ten feet of blind sight, and bonuses to perception booth visual and auditory. They average about four and a half to five feet in Height with their ears adding an extra foot on average. Large rods of cartilage run down the top and bottom edges of their ears making them very stiff, but the base moves a lot and the ears make up a lot of luciens non-verbal communication. Lucien feet are very dinosaur like including scale like plates and opposable digits. Their leg design helps them travers their native snow mountain homes. And powerful legs on top of a light body gives them great jumping abilities.
Kobolds! Kobolds are super cute had to have them. Kobolds are sorta like goblins in Tallamet. They are absolutely everywhere. They are a very creative and inventive species, while also not considering the consequences of their actions very much. They are however very social, and cooperative, easily getting carried along in the antics of others. Their most unique feature is their language. While the common language is based mostly in form, the Kobold language has very little Form in it, instead being predominantly pitch, tone, and even rhythm. To non Kobolds it just sounds like a bunch of screeching most of the time. In fact it’s impossible for non kobolds to ever be able to speak or even understand the kobold language. The Kobold’s also do not have a written language has their language is 100 times more efficient than ours, and mostly immune to drift. For a long time Kobolds where thought to be extremely primitive pests. Only recently has proper contact been established and some kobolds have learned the common language. For most Kobolds the common language is so slow to them it is almost painful to list and speak.
Gnolls sorta serve the roll of orcs in this world. Thought they are not just evil monsters like classic orcs and Gnolls. No their society is aggressive where tribes often fight amongst themselves for dominance, but it’s much more a noble warrior and fights can be very ritualistic. Many Gnolls still live a traditional hunter gatherer lifestyle has the urge to travel runs deep in their blood. Being forced to stay in one place for years is perhaps the worst punishment for a Gnoll. Their need to travel have of course seen them spread to every corner of the world and adapt to a wide variety of lifestyles making Gnolls probably the most diverse species on the planet. You’ll probably notice that the Gnoll is slightly shorter than the Human, that’s because this is a male Gnoll. Gnoll’s are a matriarchal species, the females naturally grow larger then the males.
Vespertillo are pompous egotistical elitists. There are two versions of the world map, one of the land claimed by the various nations, and the other of world divided up amongst the various Vespertillo clans. Some vespertillo claims ownership over every corner of the world. They enforce their ownership through gold, and get their gold through owning land. The Vespertillo clans are largely based around family, and blood lines. Some of the larger clans have more children then positions to fill. This leads to children taking up the arts has writers, artists or musicians. Some may even have to leave to travel the lands finding others to take patronage of their art. The clans do not have the resources nore desire to wage full wars with each other, instead their battles tend to be fought more subtly. Deceat and backstabbing fits the vespertilio more than a straight fight, has thoughts wings are delecate.
Humans are so dreadfully boring in most games. It’s the generic humans are slightly good at everything, bad at nothing malarky. Too afraid to give humans a specialty. Well I’m not! Human’s are the kings of stamina in tallamet and the best at wielding heavy armor thanks to resistance to overheating. Human’s are also very large and powerful in Tallamet being that the majority of races are smaller than human’s. Too often human’s are used has the baseline and focus on how their other species are better than humans. High endurance with lots of stamina allows humans to last and wear down their opponents. Every second you fight a human is a second you come closer to losing as you will falter before they do. And should you try to run they can wear you down through persistence. It has been said that human armies have marched for seven days and nights straight and still been ready to fight. Stories of the unrelenting iron wall still frighten the people of tallamet.
Dragons. What needs to be said about dragons. They are dragons! They are awesome! The dragons in Tallamet are slightly smaller than typical dragons though. With full adult dragons being about the size of an elephant. They have been powered down quite a bit but this was done so they can be far more common. Dragons guarding cities, Delivering packages, and managing land, Dragons are a regular part of society in Tallamet. You’ll even get to play has a dragon. You’ll start playing has adolescent dragons the size of large dogs before growing to the size of a horse and potentially to full adult sizes. Dragon players, will trade dextrus hands and some of their skill growth, for lots of natural abilities, strength, and flight.
Half dragons can be anything literally anything. You see Dragons carry inside of them a spark of creation. This spark of creation gives them many powers but one of them is the ability to breed with anything. The spark of creation will force any pairing to produce viable children. Any pairing can produce wild results. Half dragons are somewhat common but unfocused lives. The spark of creation is not passed down to half dragons meaning few of them will ever get to produce children of their own. Breeding populations are rare small and tenuous. Their uniqueness giving them no place to fit in.
Mouciens, fanatical denizens of the underground, desperate to earn the favor of the god who created them and now barely acknowledges them. The world above is often attacked by scattered groups of organised Moucien bands but they have never waged a large scale invasion of the surface nor do their warbands stay very long. Many underground complexes are left across Tallamet where Moucien Cities have rapidly rose up then left abandoned just has fast. The goings on of this race in the deep are a great mystery to many on the surface, and few would dare the depths of their lairs to find out. Though many are tempted has moucien made steal makes for some of the best weapons and armor. When not being whipped up into a furver by their fantastical leadership, moucien can be quite agreeable actually, and many who have left the underground live comfortably among the surface races.
Lapuline are well known for their honest hard working nature, and their propensity for violence and robbery. The smallest of all races Lapuline have to rely on their numbers and strong communal bonds to succeed. A strong sense of duty drives them to serve the community and put everything into whatever task needs done. Unfortunately Lapuline reproduce so quickly their numbers quickly grow past what honest work can support. Thus behind every honest hard working Lapuline community, lies a large criminal network.

Oh I do indeed recall thoughs. Still though I feel orcs are overdone, and the Gnolls will largely be taking the roll that orcs traditionally did so their isn't really a place for them right now. I do have ideas for a toxic frog like species that draws a lot from goblins and orcs.
