title is just a hilarious quote I saw on a bag and I want it so fucking bad

ANYWAY this is a lil story thing of mine! heraldry is really cool, and not just aesthetically so! my character eury is an ex-knight whose family crest depicts a rampant lion with a cowardly tail (the tail when it's between the legs). The neat thing about heraldry is that there's no depictions of negative traits, so even something like a cowardly tail doesn't imply anything bad--instead, it tends to represent something nobler, in this case humility.

Eury's family crest is kind of symbolic of everything that he wants to be, but isn't. Even as the name implies, a lot of Eury's mannerisms are deeply seeded shame and fear hidden beneath a guise of suave self assurance. That he doesn't embody the virtues of his family crest is a secret source of guilt. He's trying, though--he's just bad at it. :)
