Quick sketch I made to update my creature Viridem Vermis' jaws.
Thought about fleshing it out more and modifying it a bit and to try and spur my will to draw again with certain things been weighing me down.
It can keep prey, fruits and nuts in its gular folds to be consumed later, but was originally uninspired just being stretchy cheeks essentially.
Being similar to what a human can do.
So I thought about making it more effective in holding food items by making it a sort of pouch. Like what hamsters have for example.
A problem was how would it eat the stored food. It can't exactly do the hamster method of using its front limbs to push the food out of its pouch and hold it to eat it since on account of it being serpentine. And being arboreal means it has to use its body to hold onto the branches.
So I thought about a rear exit in the gular pouch which leads to its esophagus. So it will push and maneuverer the food item down when its ready to consume it to the rear exit then down its esophagus.
A "bit" illogical I know, but nature in RL has made weirder stuff and biological mechanisms.
I do plan on using this feature down the line some time.
