Not sure what this is? Here's a post explaining the series!: https://aryion.com/g4/view/712411
____________
Most popular idea seemed to be trying to hit the fox with an icebolt, and it seems to have worked out! I had us attempt to flirt again and we were exactly as unsuccessful as the first time- literally, we rolled a 2 again haha!

We’ve captured the fox and a bit of a mystery seems to be afoot, how should we handle things? Kill the fox, let it go? Something else?

You can find Adrea’s character sheet here!: https://aryion.com/g4/view/712418

Remember, you can ask any questions about the world (that are relevant to the current chapter) if you think you want/need more information about something! I'll do a 'live' intelligence check before answering if it's something Adrea might know.

| CLOSED - There's either a more recent entry available to read or I've already outlined the next chapter! |

Afraid not. Perhaps it just liked chewing plants? Regardless, given how much trouble the fuzzball has given the least they can do is treat you to dinner~ wash up the fox and feed it to your wolfish friend. Attempt to do so in a sensual manner. Also flirt again.

There's clearly something off about the fox, so we should probably cage it as opposed to releasing or immediately killing it. Also, do we know if animal familiars are a thing? Considering all of her non-garlic plants have magical purposes, theft by someone controlling it seems at least possible.

Yes, summoning magic in this world works by pulling beings from other realms into the natural world temporarily, and there are relatively normal animals found in Valnalon that can be summoned as familiars. Wolves are most common, but Adrea has heard of spells for summoning deer, foxes, and even smaller things like rabbits before.

In that case, going to echo the person bellow me, cage it, run the familiar theory past Bally, and see if the fox left a usable trail.

Yeah... this is not normal fox behavior. Would Adrea know about what kind of potions haunacea is used for? What its' properties are?

Also, does Adrea know if fox familiars are a thing? It be possible that someone is controlling the fox, or perhaps we're even dealing with some kind of shapeshifter who's just taken the form of a fox to remain inconspicuous.

Haunacea has a strong affinity with the element of earth and its leaves and roots can be used as a catalyst in rituals or other applications where that element is needed. For potions, it's used in a number of concoctions for curing/boosting resistance to poison and disease.

Familiars question has been answered above, but on shapeshifting: Adrea has never heard of anyone being able to shapeshift using magic, only of specific races with the ability like dragons.

In that case, let's operate on the familiar theory. Let's run the idea by Bally & see what she thinks.

I also think we should detain the fox in some kind of cage without hurting it further, at least for now. If we can, we should see about following the fox's tracks back from the garden to see where it came from, as this might lead us to its master if it is indeed a familiar. Perhaps ask Bally if she has any tracking skills that could help us here.

Do we know if spells to transform ones body exist? Could we even try to dispel it if it was?

We should detain the fox in a cage or something in the meantime but. Maybe not inside the house. And lock the doors.

Answered above! Adrea has never heard of mages being able to shapeshift like that

Seems like a polymorph of some sort. Let's see if we can communicate with the fox by asking her some questions with simple answers (yes/no, or simple numbers)

Mmmmm, we're going to ask it some question, or use our big brain to figure out the mystery. Either by digging up some knowledge about the fox, the plant, and other thing, or try to see if the fox was doing anything more with the plant. Also since this was apparently a thing, let try seducing the wolfgirl.

I say we trap it and test its intelligence somehow! It's behavior is odd to say the least. I second asking it simple, yes or no type questions.

Is there any sort of “commune with animals” type spell that Adrea may have heard about or offhandedly studied? Maybe we might be able to get actual information out of it if we have the right materials

OsmiumOrchid

Posted by OsmiumOrchid 3 years ago Report

No, Adrea has never heard of any magic that would allow that

I agree that we should cage the fox and then question the fox's intellect. Just in case the fox is a familiar of some sort, we should check for a trail or path of some sort it left. It shouldn't be all too hard to find with all the mud if one is present, though if we recognize one we should back off for now in case of a more powerful mage being the culprit.
