Have you discovered a name for this fearsome beast? Cause I've got a couple ideas on what to call it, and a request that I possibly be allowed to use it in a story or two.
The way I see it is that the monsters themselves don't speak human language, and may not have much need for a conceptual language or a language that names themselves or other creatures.
So the question then remains as to the human or humanoid groups that might encounter such creatures. Depending on the culture or languages of such groups and the modes of thinking and classifying things they develop, these creatures may acquire a large variety of names. Who is to say if one name is somehow 'more' correct than any other?
Of course I would be happy for you to write a story with such creatures, especially if you cite my artwork as inspiration. But your characters can call them what they like depending on their cultural context and biases.
Feel free to develop the creatures in ways I wouldn't have conceived, in terms of habitat, biology, feeding and mating habits etc as you wish.
Same applies to anyone else so inspired. I don't feel a need to impose a 'canonical version' of my creatures.
